About Hardy

From Broadway to the Himalayas

I was a major meditation skeptic. I believed that stress gave me my edge. But as time went by, I recognized it was causing me to be less happy, healthy, and productive. I knew I could be enjoying my life more. Even though I believed it wouldn’t work for me, I gave Vedic Meditation a chance.

I consider myself a recovering perfectionist. Since I was young, I knew I wanted to be an actor. I went to an arts high school, then a renowned college musical theatre program, and then onto one Broadway national tour after the next. It was exactly as I had planned, but at great cost.

By my mid-20’s, my life on paper was perfect. I was in a hit show with money in the bank and “living the dream,” but I couldn’t sleep. I dealt with chronic anxiety and the occasional panic attack. And I had psoriasis (which my doctor constantly reminded me was stress-induced).

I had tried meditation on apps, at the end of yoga class, and even devised my own makeshift versions. Every time I tried, it would end with frustration. While working on a show, a colleague of mine mentioned Vedic Meditation. This style seemed so different from my notions of meditation. You could sit comfortably, you didn’t have to silence the mind, and there was no need to concentrate.

So I signed up to learn. And I couldn’t believe how simple it was. Within a few weeks, I noticed I was sleeping through the night. My psoriasis had disappeared and my anxiety noticeably waned. I began to have friends and coworkers comment on how relaxed I was, how I was laughing more, and how I wasn’t so easily triggered.

As the years went by, my life continued to expand and transform. I was working on Broadway and living the life I’d planned since childhood. One morning, I woke up and decided there was more for me to do. I quit my job at the peak of my career, gave up my home, and leapt.

I spent a few months in South America, living in the wilderness of Patagonia; learning how to be self-sufficient in nature and lead expeditions. I then went to India, where I lived in the foothills of the Himalayas and spent thousands of hours studying with Vedic Masters. Now I travel the country and teach this simple, life-changing technique. Along with teaching new students, I run weekly group meditations and knowledge sessions as well as retreats and private mentoring. Vedic Meditation is a self-sufficient practice, but once you learn, you’ve got me as a teacher for life. From theatre to meditation, my passion has always been transformation. My job is to help you become the best version of yourself and I love every minute of it.
